ABOUT
Trail of Lights – A Shimmering Holiday Tradition in the Heart of El Dorado
Each winter, the Murphy Arts District transforms into a dazzling wonderland as the Trail of Lights, presented by Murphy USA, returns to illuminate the MAD Amphitheater. Opening Thursday, November 20 at 5:30 p.m. and shining nightly through December 28, this free community celebration brings thousands of twinkling lights, whimsical displays, and family-friendly attractions to downtown El Dorado. The season begins with an extra dose of magic as the Trail of Lights debuts on the same evening as El Dorado’s Downtown Holiday Lighting, creating a festive glow that spreads across the entire district.
Visitors of all ages can wander through an enchanting blend of classic favorites and exciting new features. This year’s trail includes a vibrant section of illuminated deer, trees, angels, and ornaments; a giant inflatable zone with oversized characters; and the return of Frosty’s Igloo Disco, complete with a spinning disco ball, fog effects, and lively music. Kids—and plenty of adults—will love dancing alongside animated pixel characters, riding the Rudolph Express on select nights, and slipping down the inflatable slide. Beloved elements like the talking trees, ornaments, and Santa’s Mailbox also make their return, offering countless opportunities for photos, memories, and holiday joy.
New additions bring even more sparkle to the experience. Guests can see elves climbing the oil derrick at Washington and Locust and walk through a colorful lighted tunnel connecting MAD to the Rialto, guiding visitors directly into the heart of the display. With its mix of tradition, creativity, and community spirit, the Trail of Lights continues to grow as one of South Arkansas’s most treasured holiday attractions—an unforgettable way to celebrate the season with family and friends.
